How to Celebrate a Fun-Filled & Safe Diwali in 2020?

Diwali is almost here. But the global pandemic has had its effect on the vibe and energy of the festival too. But not to worry. You can still have a lot of fun at home with your little ones by following a few guidelines.

While you stay indoors, here are some fun activities that you can enjoy with your children. Don’t miss out on reading the safety precautions listed at the end.

Narrate stories

All children love stories. Enjoy this Diwali by narrating the story of Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. Children are sure to be fascinated to know that the festival is called ‘Deepavali’ because it means a row of lights. Ayodhya was decorated in this manner after Ram’s return. Not only will they enjoy staying indoors, but it will also present you a chance to help them learn few important life lessons.

Make DIY lamps and lanterns

Let your creative juices flow! All you need are some colourful papers, basic crafts kit, and your imagination. You and your children could make beautiful lanterns to hang outside the window. Buy clay diyas of various sizes and shapes and let children paint them in vibrant hues under your guidance.

Make rangolis

Enhance the enthusiasm with colourful rangolis! Go eco-friendly and take the help of your tiny tots to make colourful rangolis at the door using flowers and petals.

Enjoy some music

No celebration is complete without music and dance. Make a playlist of a few songs related to Diwali and tap your feet to those numbers along with your children. Try singing it together as you make the rangoli outside the doorstep or while placing diyas all over the house. Stay home and enjoy some fun moves with your little ones.

sweets

Savour the treats

Festivals are a time for special treats – both sweet and savoury. And if the Diwali sweets are homemade, even better. When you prepare Diwali treats, ask your children to join you. They could take up simple tasks like filling the stuffing into a karnaji or making a few tiny laddoos.

Stay safe!

To ensure your safety and security, the Government has issued some rules and regulations on how to celebrate festivals this year. Make sure to follow them. Here are some simple precautions that enhances the safety of your loved ones:

  • Celebrate Diwali indoors as much as possible
  • Maintain physical distancing in case you meet someone
  • Wear a mask, as per the guidelines
  • Avoid using sanitizer when lighting diya and candles
  • Keep sanitizer bottles in a safe place, away from the reach of small children

You can ensure that children enjoys the festivities safely.

Happy and Safe Diwali!!!
